Newbie

Yes I'm a newbie to rail simulator but I have used MSTS and there I made many routes etc. I also used trainz 2006 where I was playing with making my own routes but here??????I't impossible. I can't find out anything. A simple thing as to laying tracks -my godness-
It doesn't work and nothing is explained in the manual either. I suppose I don't have to download the extra tools to make a route and scenarios it should be included. I have seen the movies but what's they are showing me doesn't work. Crossing-Junction etc ???????????????
Why isn't there an explanation somewhere step by step how to do it?????
